If you’re looking for easy lunch or dinner recipes, look no further than this delicious Tuna Melt Wrap. I love its simplicity, customization, and comforting taste.
Gather all Ingredients
To make this easy recipe, you will need the following ingredients: tuna, mayo, celery, dill pickles (or pickle relish), red onion, herbs, salt, black pepper, whole wheat tortilla wraps (any flour tortillas will work), spinach, bell pepper, and cheddar cheese.
You can customize this recipe to tailor the wrap to your personal preferences and experiment with different flavors and ingredients. For example, you can add dijon mustard, lemon juice, and/or your favorite fresh herbs to the tuna salad. The Tuna Melt Wrap can also include additional vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, or avocado for extra flavor.
While cheddar, Swiss, American, and provolone are common choices, you can get creative with your cheese. Sometimes, I like using pepper jack for some heat or a creamy brie for a luxurious twist.
How to make Tuna Melt Wrap:
- Add the Tuna Salad ingredients to a medium bowl and mix
Drain the liquid from the canned tuna can. Then, add the tuna, mayonnaise, diced celery, diced red onion, herbs, dill pickles, salt and pepper to a medium bowl. Stir all of the ingredients together until well combined.
- Assemble the wraps
In the centre of each whole wheat tortilla wrap arrange some spinach in a vertical line. Spoon 1/3 of the tuna mixture on top of the spinach, add bell pepper slices and cover everything with grated cheese. Next, fold the top and bottom of the tortilla over the filling.
- Cook and enjoy!
Brush a griddle pan (or a non-stick frying pan) with a little oil and heat on medium-high. Add the tuna melt wraps and fry for 2-3 minutes (until the bottom crisps up), then turn and cook on the other side for another 2 -3 minutes.
Tuna Melts are relatively easy to prepare. Canned tuna is readily available and has a long shelf life, making it a convenient ingredient to have on hand. The assembly and cooking process is straightforward, and there are several cooking methods you can use to make them. Three common methods are stovetop (skillet or griddle), in the oven, or air fryer. This recipe is using a stovetop and griddle pan.
Make ahead
You can make the tuna salad ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Once you are ready to make your wraps, remove the tuna salad from the refrigerator, stir, and follow the recipe.
